THE ISSUE
The mixed narratives about the Venezuelan humanitarian crisis projected by different political parties involved have misrepresented the true nature of the problem. This context does not allow diplomatic institutions to have an impartial and precise perspective on the complexity and devastating consequences of the Venezuelan humanitarian crisis.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to promote a more constructive and active role for the United Nations in addressing the situation in Venezuela. We want to create the appropriate conditions for diplomatic institutions to take concrete and meaningful actions forward that will have a true positive impact on the lives of millions of Venezuelans affected by the humanitarian crisis.

Why Peace for Venezuela
Peace for Venezuela is a space for promoting the conversation about the construction of peace in Venezuela. The creation of this space resulted from a process of reflection between multiple actors within civil society and the international community on the multidimensional crisis in Venezuela. We intend to generate a deeper dialogue on the different dimensions of the crisis and the need to build a sustainable peacebuilding agenda that will restore democracy and respect for human rights.
After multiple debates, consultations, and conversations promoted during 2020 and 2021 by the Center for Justice and Peace (Cepaz), together with allied organizations and experts at the national and international level, we identified a gap in deliberations and international advocacy work around Venezuela. We needed to add the inclusive view offered by the peace agenda, with the possibility of promoting a more active role by the different organizations that are part of the United Nations in the framework of this agenda and in the search for a peaceful and timely resolution the Venezuelan conflict.
Peace for Venezuela is a tool at the disposal of the conversation about peacebuilding. The initiative was born in 2021 from the need to establish a space for analysis and dissemination of work focused on generating precise debates about the crisis in English, serving as a tool for international actors.
Through this conversation, we want to make visible to diplomatic institutions, the international community, and specialized United Nations mandates, among other international organizations, the multiple dimensions of the crisis. We hope this helps international decision-makers implement effective measures and actions that are conducive to peace.
This initiative seeks to promote and maintain a comprehensive discussion that constructs an influential peace agenda for Venezuela around key thematic axes: humanitarian crisis, politics, women, peace and security, and non-international conflict issues.
